Analysis
Both are enterprise proxy and web-access providers with request-priced APIs and per-GB proxies. Their pricing shapes differ: Bright Data sells separate products with their own pay-as-you-go and commitment tiers; Oxylabs sells one subscription with a published volume ladder.
Request-priced APIs
- SERP / search. Bright Data SERP API: $1.50 per 1,000 pay-as-you-go, $1.31 on the $499 plan. Oxylabs /Search: $1.00 per 1,000 at every tier; Google non-JS falls from $1.00 (Starter, $30) to $0.70 (Flexible, $500).
- General page fetching. Bright Data Crawl API: $1.50 pay-as-you-go down to $0.9995 at $1,999/month. Oxylabs custom-domain scraping without JS: $1.00 (Starter) to $0.80 (Flexible). With JS: $1.50 to $1.30.
- Residential proxies. Oxylabs: $6.00 per GB at the $30 tier, $4.00 at $500. Bright Data: $8.00 per GB list pay-as-you-go (the page also advertises a coupon price of $4/GB, which we do not use).
Entry cost and free start
Oxylabs starts at a $30/month subscription (plus a $5 welcome credit); Bright Data has pay-as-you-go with no minimum, and its pages advertise 5K free requests per month on Unlocker/SERP. Bright Data's commitment tiers jump to $499+; Oxylabs's tiers step through $30, $100, $500 and $2,500.
Caveats
The product definitions are not identical: Bright Data's Unlocker/SERP/Crawl bundles may include unblocking and rendering that Oxylabs prices in separate rows, and neither page says anything about success rates. Oxylabs's Web Unblocker and Bright Data's Browser API are priced per GB, so we do not convert them to per-page costs.
Verdict
On published per-request rates, Oxylabs is cheaper for SERP and plain scraping at every tier we compared (for example $1.00 versus $1.50 per 1,000 at the entry level), and its volume ladder is easier to read. Bright Data wins on flexibility (no monthly minimum) and the breadth of its product line. Ask both for a trial on your hardest target before deciding.
